BACKGROUND: Throughout its history, the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors has occasionally delegated its authority to various County officers and employees to carry out essential government operations on its behalf.
STRATEGIC PLAN: Mission - To enhance the well-being and quality of life for all community members through the provision of the of the highest level of public service consistent with the prudent use of public funds.
DISCUSSION: To set out clearly how appointments in the County’s administrative service are made, an ordinance (Attachment A) and an organizational chart (Attachment B) have been prepared by the County Attorney’s Office for the Board’s consideration. The attachments outline the proposed manner in which appointments shall be made.
Staff is requesting that the Board conduct a public hearing and consider the proposed ordinance and resolution to clearly outline its delegation.
BUDGET IMPACT: There is no anticipated budget impact.

Staff recommends that the Board adopt the attached proposed ordinance (Attachment A) and organizational chart (Attachment B).
