The project included a roundabout at the new intersection of Berkmar Drive, Airport Road, and Lewis and Clark Drive, as well as bicycle and pedestrian facilities along the extension of Berkmar Drive. This application for funding through the Virginia Department of Transportation's (VDOT) Revenue Sharing program was successful.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to this project on September 6, 2023, when the Board adopted another resolution, this time to support a FY24 application for additional funding through the Revenue Sharing program to address project cost increases.
