REVIEWED BY: Jeffrey B. Richardson

BACKGROUND:  The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) requires each locality that is a recipient of funds under various grant programs for transportation-related projects to provide assurance by resolution every four years of its commitment to fund its local share of all projects. On April 22, 2022, the agreement was last renewed and subsequently expired in 2026. A new resolution, once executed, will continue the County of Albemarle’s assurance to VDOT to fund its share of all current and approved projects.

STRATEGIC PLAN: Infrastructure & Placemaking: Invest in infrastructure and amenities that create connection, opportunity, and well-being.

DISCUSSION:  Under this blanket resolution, individual transportation-related projects execute a separate Appendix A that identifies the project narrative, project estimates, project cost and reimbursement, project financing, and program and project-specific funding requirements.

BUDGET IMPACT: There is no budget impact associated with these agreements.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the Board adopt the attached resolution and authorize the County Executive to execute all agreements and/or addenda for any approved projects with the Virginia Department of Transportation.
