BACKGROUND: The Board directed staff to undertake a corridor study and planning process for Rio Road from east of the Rio29 Small Area Plan area (east of Putt-Putt Place/Glenwood Station) to the City Limits at Melbourne Road. A consultant, Line & Grade Civil Engineering, was contracted to undertake this project. The Rio Road corridor planning process began in the Spring of 2021 with the consultant's work being broken into two phases. The consultant's work is now complete and is being presented to the Board of Supervisors for its review and acceptance.
STRATEGIC PLAN: Infrastructure Investment - Prioritize, plan, and invest in critical infrastructure that responds to past and future changes and improves the capacity to serve community needs.
DISCUSSION: Attachment A is the cover memorandum provided to the Planning Commission for their review of the Plan. That memorandum provides additional background regarding this project. The Plan and its Appendices are Attachments B and C, respectively. The Planning Commission reviewed the document on May 24, 2022 and expressed unanimous support for the Plan. The Commission's meeting minutes are provided as Attachment D.
BUDGET IMPACT: There is no budget impact from the acceptance of this planning document other than the cost for its development. Implementation of the plan would require future funding.
