BACKGROUND: County Government maintains a Classified Employee pay scale and separate Public Safety pay scales for the Police Department, Department of Fire Rescue, and Sheriff’s Office. Virginia Code § 15.2-1500, § 15.2-1506, and related provisions establish that employee compensation is set by the Board of Supervisors.
STRATEGIC PLAN: Workforce & Customer Service - Recruit & retain engaged public servants who provide quality government services to advance our mission.
DISCUSSION: On April 22, 2026, the Board adopted the County’s FY27 budget, which included all funding necessary to support the County’s pay plan. The attached resolution (Attachment A) formally adopts the FY27 pay scales, which provide the structure to administer that pay plan. The Classified and Public Safety pay scales will be effective July 1, 2026, and will apply to all classified County employees.
BUDGET IMPACT:
None. Funding was approved in the FY27 adopted budget.
