BACKGROUND: In November 2019, City Council, Albemarle County Board of Supervisors and UVA established the Land Use and Environmental Planning Committee (LUEPC) to broaden promote collaboration by professional staff to develop solutions on a continuous basis onland use, environmental, and sustainability topics, with regular reports to the leadership of all three entities. LUEPC is intended to be a vehicle to collaborate and coordinate land use and development plans and projects and to consider environmental and infrastructure issues facing the community.
STRATEGIC PLAN: Resilient, Equitable & Engaged Community - Design programs and services that promote an equitable, engaged and climate-resilient community.
DISCUSSION: : For 2023, the County is the host organization for LUEPC. The Committee kicked off meetings for 2023 with the February meeting. For the first half of the year, the Committee met in person in February and May. The meetings in March, April and June were virtual meetings. The committee has continued concentrating on project discussions and coordination. The agendas for the monthly meeting are usually developed around themes - either geographical areas or specific topics. LUEPC's Semi-Annual Report for the first half of 2023 (Attachment A) has been compiled and includes the topics covered in the meetings.
