BACKGROUND: On April 3, 2024, the Board of Supervisors approved a Resolution of Intent to amend Albemarle County Code ? 18-20C, the Rio29 Form-Based Code, (Attachment A) to address problematic provisions that were discovered during the review of the first site development plan applications submitted under the Rio29 Form-Based Code.
STRATEGIC PLAN: Infrastructure and Placemaking: Invest in infrastructure and amenities that create connection, opportunity, and well-being. Quality of Life: Encourage a vibrant community with economic and recreational opportunities that serve all community members.
DISCUSSION: During the amendment process of the Rio29 Form-Based Code, staff identified the need for corresponding amendments to the Rio29 Small Area Plan of the Comprehensive Plan, the Zoning Map, and Chapter 14 of the County Code. These proposed amendments should be reviewed and advanced concurrently with the proposed amendments to Rio29 Form-Based Code to allow for alignment of the Comprehensive Plan and supporting regulations.
BUDGET IMPACT: No budget impact is expected.
